Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Setz is provided by Frekvens AS, organisation number 821 787 912, Drøbakgata 1, 0463 Oslo, Norway (“Frekvens”, “we”, “us”). For privacy questions, email privacy@stezapp.com.

2. The short version

• You can use Setz without creating an account.
• Your exercise history, plans, notes, bodyweight entries, body measurements, progress photos, meal plans, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
• If you connect Apple Health or take progress photos, that information stays on your device. It is never sent to us or used for advertising.
• We do not sell personal information and Setz does not contain third-party advertising.
• We use limited product analytics to understand whether the app works and where people get stuck.
• Apple processes App Store payments. We never receive your card details.

3. Information Setz handles

Workout information on your device

Setz stores the workouts and values you enter—such as exercises, sets, weight, repetitions, notes, plans, personal records, bodyweight, reminders, and preferences—on your device.

Check-in and Meal plan on your device

If you use Check-in or Meal plan, Setz stores the details you enter or choose—such as your goal, height, age, sex, weight, waist and body-fat estimates, calorie and macro targets, chosen meals, and your shopping-list ticks—on your device. The calorie, macro, and meal-plan calculations run on your device. They are general estimates for healthy adults, not medical advice.

Optional Apple Health

Apple Health access is off until you turn it on and grant permission in iOS. Each permission is separate, and you can change it at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

What Setz reads. If you connect Apple Health in Check-in, Setz reads your body weight and your step count. It uses them on your device to show your trend weight and to estimate how much energy you use in a day, and it keeps a copy of your weight readings in the app on your device. Setz does not read any other Health data.

What Setz writes. If you turn on workout sharing, Setz writes completed strength workouts, duration, estimated active energy, and a session summary including the workout name, total volume, and working-set count to Health. Energy is an estimate, not a measurement. Setz never writes body weight, body fat, or calorie targets to Health. Removing a Setz workout does not remove its Health record; manage and delete Health records in Apple Health.

Information from Apple Health is never sent to us or to our service providers, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared with third parties.

Camera and progress photos

If you take progress photos in Check-in, Setz asks for permission to use the camera, or you can choose photos from your library. Photos are stored only in Setz’s protected storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us, and they are not included in iCloud or device backups, so they do not move to a new phone. You can remove a photo in Setz at any time, and deleting the app deletes all of them. You can change camera permission in iOS Settings.

Apple Watch

A paired Apple Watch can exchange the current workout, set values, and rest controls with your iPhone. Browser workout logs are stored separately and do not automatically sync with the iPhone app.

Limited app and website analytics

We use a product analytics service hosted in the European Union to understand broad product use, such as pages opened, onboarding completion, workouts started or completed, and where a visitor moves from a training guide into the workout builder. Website analytics use a random identifier that lasts only for the current browser-tab session, do not create a person profile, and stop when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled. We record only allowlisted product events, safe campaign labels, and broad count ranges. We do not send exercise search text, custom exercise or workout names, exercise identifiers, weights, repetitions, bodyweight, body measurements, progress photos, Apple Health data, calorie or nutrition targets, workout notes, plan names, share-link contents, or other workout content to the analytics service. The app asks the analytics service not to infer a location from network information. For the website, the service may infer a coarse location from network information when it receives an event.

Purchases

For optional paid features, Apple processes the payment and RevenueCat helps us confirm subscription status. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous app-user identifier, product and entitlement information, purchase dates, app version, and device information. We do not receive full payment-card details.

Notifications

If you enable workout reminders, Setz stores your schedule locally and uses Apple’s notification system to show reminders on your device. You can change this permission in iOS Settings.

Messages you send us

If you contact support or request beta access, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them only to respond, provide support, protect the service, and keep necessary business records.

4. Why we process information

We process limited information to provide and secure Setz, respond to requests, restore and validate purchases, understand reliability and feature adoption, meet legal obligations, and improve the app. Depending on the context, the legal basis is performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and improving Setz, consent where required, or compliance with law.

5. Service providers

We use Apple for app distribution and payments and RevenueCat for purchase and entitlement management. We also use an analytics provider in the European Union, and providers for website hosting, security, and email, who act as our data processors. Each provider processes information under its own terms and our applicable agreements. Information may be processed outside Norway or the EEA using lawful transfer safeguards where required.

6. Retention and deletion

Local workout data, body measurements, progress photos, and meal plans remain on your device until you delete them in Setz, remove the app, or erase the device. Analytics and purchase records are retained only for as long as needed for product measurement, security, accounting, and legal obligations. You may ask us for the current retention settings at privacy@stezapp.com. Support messages are normally retained for up to 24 months after the issue is resolved unless a longer period is legally required.

7. Your choices and rights

You can remove local iPhone data by deleting the app and remove browser workout data from your browser’s site-storage controls. Closing the browser tab ends the website analytics session; enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control stops new website analytics events. Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, withdraw consent, or object to processing. You may also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet). Contact privacy@stezapp.com to exercise a right.

8. Children

Setz is a general workout utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account because Setz does not require one. A parent or guardian may contact us with any concern.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when Setz or the law changes. We will publish the revised policy here and change the effective date. Material changes will be communicated in the app when appropriate.
